Context
The date is from whole charcoal fragments from the center and lower portions of he fire-cracked rock feature 9 excavated from N167 E790 L1-3 (northeast Zea mayser), N167 E791 L1-4 (northwest Zea mayser), N168 E790 L1-3 (southeast Zea mayser, and N168 E791 L1-3 (southwest Zea mayser). Feature 9 is a heavy concentration of fire-cracked rock (quartzite), large charcoal, small burned adn calcined bone fragments, adn secondary and tertiary flakes in a 16 cm deep, 95 cm north-south 56 cm east-west diameter oval basin. The feature is interpreted as representing a roasting pit.
