Context
Wickiup 20, Test Area 4. Only partially excavated. It is estimated to have been roughly elliptical, ca. 2.5 x 1.5 m in dia., floor area of ca. 2.9 sq m. An unwoven juniper bark mat was located near the base of the support tree and is now curated at the Museum of Western Colorado. 3 pieces of twined juniper bark, 5 small pieces of red ochre and a single bone frag. were also found. The hearth (Feature 2) is irregular in outline, ca. 80 x 60 cm in dia, 7 cm deep, with small pieces of FCR. Hearth was probably located near the periphery of the wickiup. Plan map shows at least 3 leaner poles.
