DcJj-14, Crane: Two burned postmolds straddled two separate caches of bifaces at this site. Each postmold was sampled for radiocarbon dating with disparate results. Of about 155 bifaces, 22 were in a small cache, 15 were on the surface the the remainder were in a larger cache. All of the bifaces are made of Gunflint chert or taconite, a lithic material commonly used in the late Palaeoindian period. A Palaeoindian affiliation is suggested by the shape, size, raw material and presence of edge grinding on the bifaces, but the radiocarbon dates do not support this assignment (W.A. Ross, p.c. 2002).
