- FbNp-22, Cut Arm: This site is situated in a small drainage basin on the left bank of the South Saskatchewan River near the mouth of Opimihaw Creek, in Wanuskewin Heritage Park. Excavations by the University of Saskatchewan field school encountered 12 occupation levels in a deep sequence of buried soil horizons well separated by colluvial sediments. The uppermost occupation dates to about the time of European contact, and one of the deepest, Level 11, yielded a projectile point attributed to the Mummy Cave series, making it the oldest occupation yet recorded in the Park. Webster (2004) provides a short summary of the materials from Level 8, associated with the McKean series. The upper occupation in Level 8 yielded a McKean lanceolate point in association with bison bones dated by BGS-2383. The lower occupation in Level 8 lacked diagnostic artifacts but is assigned to the McKean series in view of its close association with the upper occupation and its radiocarbon date (BGS-2384).
