- NgTn-1, Saunaktuk: The site consists of a collapsed and buried log and sod dwelling of Mackenzie Inuit affiliation. Oral histories indicate that a previously unreported regional group of Mackenzie Inuit formerly lived in houses of this kind in the Eskimo Lakes area. Arnold notes that stylistic comparisons with Kittigazuit suggest an age for this site on the order of about 500 BP. On that basis, the Saskatchewan dates and RIDDL-547 are satisfactory. RIDDL-549 is too young despite the fact that the bone was recovered from intact deposits. RIDDL-556, on human bone, appears to be too old and may reflect the consumption of marine mammals. Calibration with a marine model may bring it in line with expectation.
