Comments
AlGs-10, Boys: This is a 0.5 ha palisaded village with at least two houses. It is assigned to the Pickering phase of the Early Ontario Iroquois tradition. Cooper and Savage (1994: 13) note that the fauna seems to represent an unspecialized pattern of exploiting locally available fauna. The evidence allows for the possibility of year-round occupation. Fauna: Martes pennanti 2-1, Canis sp 2-1, Canis lupus 1-1; Aves 117, Gavia immer 1-1, Podiceps auritus 1-1, Anas platyrhynchos 1-1, Bucephala albeola 12-2, Mergus merganser 1-1, Mergus serrator 1-1, Bonasa umbellus 5-2, Grus canadensis 1-1, Picoides villosus 2-1; Reptilia 13, Chrysemys picta 6-3, Chelydra serpentina 3-1, Clemmys insculpta 2-1; Amphibia: Anura 1-1; Pisces 2900, Acipenser fulvescens 3-1, Amia calva 14-3, Esox lucius 51-6, Esox americanus 3-1, Lepisosteus osseus 7-1, Catostomus sp 113-12, Ictalurus sp 773-70, Serranidae 93-12, Perca sp 76-20, Aplodinotus grunniens 4-3; Class uncertain 13; Mollusca: Pelecypoda 13-5, Gastropoda 3-3 (probably Triodopsis albolabris); cultigen: Zea mays; Flora: Juglans cinerea, Juglans nigra, Fagus grandifolia, Rhus sp, Prunus americana, Corylus sp
