EdPc-1, Majorville cairn: Situated at an elevation of 918 m asl, the cairn is 9 m in diameter and 1.58 m high. It is encircled by a medicine wheel 28.8 m in diameter, having 26-28 spokes. Known to have been used in late prehistoric time, older projectile point styles and three radiocarbon dates demonstrate construction and use over a period of at least four millennia. Among the 254 projectile points recovered, Pelican Lake is under-represented with only five specimens, suggesting a variation in the intensity of site use. Otherwise, all major point types from Oxbow onward are well represented, suggesting a long period of continuity in the use of this site. The presence of ceremonial items such as ammonite septa, other fossils, concretions, and red ochre staining on stone artifacts and bones suggests that some items may represent medicine bundles that were deposited in the cairn (Calder, 1977: 204).
