Comments
It is assumed that this date was not corrected previously for isotopic fractionation. DgRv-3, Dionisio Point: Three components are recognized by Mitchell. Component I is dominated by heavy chipped stone items from shell-free, stratigraphically early deposits. Component IIa represents the Marpole phase and Component IIb the Gulf of Georgia culture type. Colin Grier conducted further excavations in 1998. He reports five large house depressions, four of which measure 20 x 10 m while the fifth is larger, 40 x 10 m. One of the smaller houses, House 2, was selected for excavation and produced a large suite of artifacts including two incised stone bowls, one with a zoomorphic face and the other with an anthropomorphic face. Two dates indicate that large households had developed by at least mid-Marpole time in this region.
