Comments
The Levels we identified in the 2002 and 2003 excavations in the central area of the site do not correspond to Taylor’s interpretation of the stratigraphy. Level I contains no characteristic artefacts and no organic material (it was not identified by Taylor in the same area). Compared to the rest of Nunavik, the 2002-2003 lithic collection from level II is typologically Middle Dorset and broadly similar to Taylor's 1958 excavation collection (with some exceptions). Level III was only partially excavated and the date we have is not yet associated with characteristic artefacts. By comparison with Taylor's stratigraphy we suspect level III to be Grosswater-related (box based point). The date may be a little older than it is supposed to be because of the driftwood.
